The course of life in Tusheti is determined by 2 events - the passable and impassable road through Abano Pass. For most of the year, the region is cut off from the rest of the country. The road is impassable, under a thick layer of snow. The season for Tusheti is actually a few months in summer when the snow melts.
During our trip, we will have the opportunity to taste the regional cuisine of Tusheti. Our hosts will treat us to local dishes such as the local khinkali, chachapuri and the traditional shepherd's dish, Khavitsi (a high-salt mixture of butter and curd).
There will also be the traditional Aludi beer, which is only made here. We will also experience the unique folklore and customs of the region.
The Tusheti region is also famous for its knitting. The women of this region are very talented in knitting, as we will have the opportunity to see for ourselves. The materials used by the women in this region are entirely natural.
Every step of the way you will be warmly welcomed and hosted by our friends, the local Tushetian people from the villages of Omalo, Chesho, Alisgora, Dartlo, who are already looking forward to our arrival!
