Wild Imeretia - trekking to Khani river waterfalls combined with a visit to a winemaker. In the series little-known Georgia, ethnography and wildlife.
We will trek to two of the most beautiful Khani waterfalls. They are located on a wild and almost deserted trail, just like in Jurassic Park! There are a few steep sections along the way, but they are not technically difficult.
The trail begins in the high mountain village of Khani in the Imeretia region, which is known for its cheeses and characteristic method of storing them in kvevri (clay amphorae). From the village to the beginning of the trail there is a mountain off road. Overcoming it will give us a lot of experience already at the start!

This place is untouched by mass tourism. The waterfalls are hidden in rocks covered with green moss, where the wildlife captivates with its mystery. On the way back we will drive to a fantastic winemaker, "Baia's Wine". Wine tasting and imeretin supra will be waiting for us.
At this winery, siblings Baia, Gvanca and Giorgi make wine in kvevri (clay amphorae located in the ground) according to an 8,000-year-old tradition. We will meet these unique passionate people who will introduce us to the process of making their wine. We will taste wines such as Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Otskhanuri Sapere and Krakhuna.
Information:
- Starting from Kutaisi at 9:30 a.m.
- Jeep tour to hiking trail (must be done by jeep, because other car can't get here).
- Trekking to and from the waterfalls takes about 2-3 hours.
- Difficulty of the trail: medium.
- We recommend trekking shoes.
- Return to Kutaisi around 20:00/21:00.
- We speak Polish, English, German, Russian and of course Georgian.
