Georgia 1 - day tour on horseback from Kutaisi

Enjoy a 1-day horseback riding tour from Kutaisi!

We have 3 trails for you to choose from depending on your skills and the weather. We provide a comfortable transfer to the starting point of the horseback riding tour. We start our horseback tours from the Lechkhumi region or from the Ushguli wisok.

The horse tour lasts approximately 3 to 6 hours. You will be saddled by our brave, well-mannered horses of the Megrel breed.

Tours are dedicated to those who can ride a horse.

WE Georgians together with our horses welcome you wholeheartedly on our family mountain trails!

On the trail to Georgian Alaska

GEORGIAN ALASKA

Our destination is an area known as 'Georgia Alaska' for its dense forests and stunning views of the rocky landscape. This is also the first 30-kilometre section of the trail to Lake Lebarde that we will cover during the Special Edition. The trail follows a forest path, mainly used by lumberjacks and local shepherds. The trail is quite varied, leading down and up, gradually ascending towards the waterfall. Along the way you will find some good places to gallop. The pace will vary. We will stop for a break in the field. We will have a leisurely lunch, rest and then set off on the return journey.

ASKHI

Our main objective will be to reach the pass in front of Mount Askhi, at an altitude of 2050 metres. We have about 1,050 metres of ascent to climb, which leads through beautiful forests, beyond which we will emerge into an open expanse of mountain meadows. We will be ascending at a tarsier. A little later we will reach a more rocky and stony section that will lead us to a pass. There, next to our hut, we will stop for a break and lunch in the open air. We will have some time to rest. We will then begin the return journey. On the first rocky section we will lead our horses. On the way, it is worth looking at the rocks and stones. You can see clear layers on them - more than 100 million years ago the sea raged here. We will descend to a flat area where we can move at a more brisk pace. In the late afternoon we will arrive at our base camp.

SHKHARA GLACIER

We will drive through a picturesque valley, along the Enguri River, whose source is on a glacier. The route is wide and mostly flat. There are no difficult or steep climbs. The last bit to the glacier has to be done on foot. Those wishing to do so will make the trek, which takes about 1.5 - 2 hours. Others can stay and enjoy the views of the Svaneti mountains while sitting in a cosy bar run by locals.

After a pop and picnic, we will return to our horses and set off on the return journey. In the afternoon we will arrive in Ushguli. This is the highest village in Europe inhabited all year round, even in very harsh winters!
