Day 1 – Meeting in Tbilisi, the Rainbow Mountains,

We’ll meet in Tbilisi at the monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasali at 10.00. We’ll travel for 1–1.5 hours to the starting point of our horse-riding trek. We’ll start the trip at our base in the village of Lemshveniera, which translates as ‘beautiful’. Once there, you’ll meet our local horse-riding guide, Mose, and our horses. We’ll assign a horse to each participant. We’ll set off on horseback towards the Rainbow Mountains and a picturesque lake. These places are known as the ‘Georgian Mars’ or ‘Peru’! We’ll cover around 25 km on horseback there and back. The trail leads through the Georgian steppes and along country lanes. We’ll ride at a brisk at a brisk pace. We have the perfect stretches for a fast gallop. The rainbow-coloured mountains shimmer in shades of carmine, yellow and beige. Their reflection on the crystal-clear water enhances the effect! You’ll feel as though you’re on another planet. We’ll ride up to a viewpoint where you’ll be able to admire these otherworldly views in 360 degrees. You simply have to see it with your own eyes! We’ll stop by the lake for the horses to rest. We’ll prepare a picnic featuring regional Georgian delicacies. After a rest, we’ll set off on our return journey.

We’ll be back in Tbilisi this evening.

Day 2 – On horseback to Natlismtsemeli, the ancient cave complex of the Monastery of St. John the Baptist

We’ll meet in Tbilisi at the monument to King Vakhtang Gorgasali at 10.00. We’ll travel for 1–1.5 hours to the starting point of our horse-riding trek.

On this day we will set off on horseback to Georgian Jordan! To the mystical monastery in the rock of St John the Baptist, which is a fascinating story of Georgia's deep Christian heritage. Its origins date back to the 6th century. Over time, its walls have witnessed countless invasions. From the Turks, to the Persians, to the Mongols. To this day, monks still live in these harsh conditions. We cover a distance of around 35 km on horseback, there and back. The trail leads through vast clearings, steppes and country lanes. There are some good stretches for galloping along the route. We ride right up to the monastery itself, galloping through canyons and desert mountains. Just like in a scene from a Western film, we’ll leave our horses outside the main gate of the complex so they can rest. We’ll then explore the interior of the rock-hewn church, the ancient caves, the monks’ quarters and the tower on foot. Near the monastery, there will be a break for the horses to rest and a picnic featuring regional Georgian specialities. After a rest, we’ll set off on our return journey.
