Georgia – a horse-riding trip from Ushguli to the Shkhara Glacier
Join us on a horse-riding excursion from the very heart of the Greater Caucasus, in the Svaneti region, starting from the village of USHGULI! It is a unique place on the map of Georgia and the highest village in Europe that is inhabited all year round! It is distinguished by its unique folklore, traditions and characteristic medieval stone towers. It lies at the foot of Georgia’s highest peak, Shkhara, which stands at 5,203 metres above sea level.
It is with this peak in view that we’ll set off on horseback through the picturesque valley!

PROGRAMME:
- Starting from the centre of Ushguli, from the Panorama Hotel by 2.00 pm at the latest.
- ~an hour’s horse ride along the River Enguri to the start of the trail leading to the glacier
- A break or an optional 2-hour trek to the Shkhara Glacier (the guide will stay with the horses and wait for you)
- A picturesque return journey to Ushguli through the valley (about an hour)
Our horses They are Georgian dogs; they are well-groomed, well-trained and safe.
