4-day expedition Georgia: trekking, jeep tour under the highest peaks of Georgia - High Caucasus, Ushguli

Join us for a 4-day 4×4 expedition combined with trekking in the High Caucasus, at the foot of Georgia's highest mountains. The expedition starts and ends in Kutaisi. We will take you on a scenic 4×4 route through the 2800m Zagaro Pass. We will reach the village of Ushguli. The village is the highest settlement in Europe inhabited all year round. Ushguli is under the protection of UNESCO. Ushguli lies picturesquely at the foot of the highest mountain in Georgia - Shkhara 5203 m. In Ushguli we will stay in a cosy guesthouse. From there, we will embark on mountain trails for the next 2 days!

2. trekking to the mountain lake towards Latpari Pass 

We set off on the trail from the oldest part of the village of Ushguli. We walk through clearings, streams until we come to massive stretches of rhododendrons. We pass the summer fortress of Queen Tamar. Views of Shkhara, Ushba peak, Ushguli village open up before us. Further on, the trail passes into alpine glades. We reach a mountain lake, which is at an altitude of 2,800 metres. At the lake we stop for a rest. We then return to Ushguli via the same trail. 

The trail measures approximately 15 km in both directions

Altitude: start from 2200 m - highest point on the trail 2900 m

Informations:

• The tour is organised in the season from 20.07 to 20.09.
• We walk to the trail on „light”, sleeping in a guesthouse. 
• On average, we cover 15-20 kilometres per day
• The expedition is designed for physically active people. The trail requires good knees, good trekking shoes, and a willingness to cross mountain streams, and there is an elevation gain of about 700 m to overcome 
• There are no sections with chains in the expedition.
