3 Martvili Canyon is one of the most beautiful natural monuments in West Georgia, in the Samegrelo-Ober Svaneti region. This rocky gorge on the Abasha River, formed during the Mesozoic period as a result of the erosion of limestone rocks , is a true oasis of subtropical beauty. The canyon combines wildlife with a rich history. In the 19th century, the aristocratic Dadiani family, who ruled the Samegrelo region , created paths and baths here. You can admire the historic 30-step staircase, a reminder of their private path. The total length of the gorge is about 2.4 km , and the steep walls reach 50-70 metres in height.

3. the Archaeological Museum in Vani
It is a key site for understanding ancient Colchis civilisation and the history of West Georgia. In Vani, during the 8th century BC. - 1st century AD, there was a key political and religious centre of Colchis.
The museum, reopened in 2020 after renovations , collects more than 4,000 artefacts. Here you will see masterful Kolchida goldwork (diadems, earrings) , unique Hellenistic bronze sculptures and the famous Tamada statue. The site won the Silletto Prize in 2023.

City of Batumi
5 Batumi, the capital of Adjara, is the second largest and one of the fastest growing cities in Georgia. It has been called the „Georgian Dubai” for its futuristic architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Batumi's history dates back to the 4th century BC, with mentions by Aristotle. Its strategic location made it a key port and a point of contention. The name probably comes from the ancient Greek „deep harbour”. Over the centuries, the city was influenced by Rome, Byzantium and the Ottoman Empire, before coming under Russian rule in 1878. Today, Batumi is a mix of restored 19th-century architecture and ultra-modern buildings. The most famous are the Alphabet Tower (symbol of the Georgian alphabet) and the moving statue of Ali and Nino (symbol of love and unity)
6. sighnaghi - Georgian „Tuscany”. A city located in the heart of the wine region of Kakheti! It is famous for its monumental defensive walls (known as Georgia's little Chinese Wall) and picturesque cobbled streets. It is the City of Love, partly due to its 24-hour registry office, but mainly due to the legend of Niko Pirosmani, the famous primitivist. It was he who, out of mad love for an actress, gifted her with „a million purple roses”. The walls offer a spectacular view of the Alazan Valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus. Nearby is Bodbe Monastery, the resting place of St Nino, the patron saint of Georgia. Sighnaghi is a must-see for lovers of wine and romantic atmosphere!
If the weather is good, it is possible to exchange a trip to Sighnaghi for a trip along the war road to Kazbegi.

Uplisciche rock town
7. the rock city of Uplisciche - one of the oldest rock cities in the world. Its name literally means „Fortress of the Lord”. It is a majestic complex, carved into the rock on the banks of the Mtkwari River, and its history dates back as far as the 4th century BC! For centuries, it was a key political and religious centre of the Kingdom of Kartli (Iberia).
The city, with a population of 20,000 in its heyday, was an important stop on the Silk Road. Before the adoption of Christianity, it was here that Georgians worshipped pagan deities, including the Sun Goddess. Today, you can walk through the famous escape tunnel leading to the river and admire the unique coffered vaults carved into the rock, a combination of Anatolian and Iranian influences. Uplisciche is a living lesson in Georgian history at its source!
8. Mccheta, located at the confluence of the Mtkwari and Aragvi rivers, is the former capital of the Kingdom of Iberia (from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD) and the spiritual heart of Georgia. Its status as a „Holy City” stems from the adoption of Christianity here in 337 thanks to the mission of St Nino. Here you will visit the Cathedral of Sveti Tschoveli („Pillar of Life”), where, according to legend, the Robe of Christ was buried. The name comes from the miracle when the cedar pillar supporting the first church floated in the air!
Overlooking the city is the UNESCO-listed Jvari Monastery (6th century), which offers the most beautiful view of the junction of the two rivers. Mccheta, despite the relocation of the capital to Tbilisi, is still the seat of the Georgian Orthodox Church. It is an absolutely key place to learn about the roots of Caucasian identity.

Kolkhida fountain in the centre of Kutaisi
10. Kutaisi, located on the Rioni River in Imeretia , is Georgia's third largest city and its unofficial cultural capital. The city's history dates back over 4,000 years and is identified with the legendary Colchis - the land of the Golden Fleece. Kutaisi was the capital of various kingdoms , and gained its greatest importance in the 11th-12th centuries. The city's central square is decorated with a fountain with statues (horses, lions) - enlarged replicas of golden figures from Colchis.
11th Green Bazaar (Mtsvane Bazari) is the authentic heart of Kutaisi , famous for its colourful spices (like Svaneti salt and Adjika) and hanging strings of churcheli (Georgian „snickers”). A visit to the bazaar is key to learning about Georgian culture.
12.Visit to a bio vineyard, wine tasting
Georgia proudly bears the name of the cradle of wine, with the longest unbroken wine tradition in the world. Archaeological evidence suggests that wine making took place here as far back as around 8,000 years ago! The key to this unique tradition is the method of winemaking in Qvevri. Qvevri are large clay amphorae buried in the ground in traditional cellars (marani), which provides the ideal, constant temperature for fermentation. This method was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List in 2013.
In an intimate, family-run winery you will be hosted by our friend, winemaker Mr Gaioz Sopromadze. You will see real qvevri and Mr Gaioz will talk about his passion and multi-generational tradition. A tasting of Imeretin wines and a dinner with regional delicacies awaits you, during which Mr Gaioz will host you as Tamada (master of ceremonies), introducing you to the magic of Georgian supra and toasts.
